Bone Netsuke:
- A Netsuke is a Japanese dress items (also used in China) to maintain the Sagemono.
- The Japanese or Chinese Kimono did not have any pocket in order to put some various items such as writing materials, pipe, drugs or seals. So they were transported in small boxes called Sagemono. These boxes were hung on the Japanese obi (belt) with a cord, the Netsuke was placed so as to maintain the Sagemono (like a tab).
- Note that the origin of Netsuke is Chinese, not Japanese. It was later exported to Japan.
- This Netsuke is in Bone (Buffalo Bone) and is fully engraved by hand.
